Hello or konnichiwa! I’m Kurumi, a software developer currently based in Tokyo, Japan. I have bias towards Kotlin, and server-side engineering.

This blog is where I share my thoughts and knowledge in my tech career. If you enjoy reading, please feel free to RSS: mtkrm.com/feed.

My point of contact is: contact@mtkrm.com

The following section introduces you to my industrial background. See also my yearly reviews and monthly reviews for more frequent and nuanced updates 🙂

Work

I’m starting my first full-time job in April, 2025. I’m thrilled! This section will be updated once I start.

For my previous jobs, please refer to my LinkedIn.

Public Speaking

  • Received the Presentation Award at IEEE GCCE for the presentation of my paper “Travelers’ Dissatisfaction in Tokyo’s Short–Term Rentals: Factors Influencing Location Reviews.”
  • Provided a couple of Lightning Talks at Waffle, a women-in-Tech community in Japan, sharing my career story and some small tips to find opportunities in the industry.

Academics

  • A department with a focus on Social Sciences, English language, and Data Science.

Volunteer

  • I gave an one-day long lecture of HTML and CSS in a class of over 40 high school students at Waffle Camp in summer of 2024. I think I genuinely like a teaching job, I’d be happy if you have similar opportunities 😀

Community

  • I’m an active participant of Waffle and Code for Japan. You may find me there!
  • I established the first-ever technology community at my campus to cultivate pathways for female and gender minority students pursuing careers in Tech. I led the community of 10+ active members and we empowered 100+ female students through workshops and speaker sessions. (I was in charge from August 2022 to September 2023.
